KFMA Fall Ball 2017 is bringing Columbus, Ohio-based rock band Beartooth to the desert. We chatted with guitarist Kam Bradbury on the phone about the band鈥檚 music and touring plans.
Bradbury, vocalist Caleb Shomo, guitarist Taylor Lumley and bassist Oshie Bichar all grew up in local bands in the Columbus area but came together as friends and formed their own band. The group has released an EP and two albums, including 2016鈥檚 鈥淎ggressive.鈥
Check out what we chatted about.
What鈥檚 the band working on right now?
鈥淲e just have these little weekend festival runs. We鈥檙e about to leave on Friday and play some shows out to California on the way. We鈥檙e playing some festivals, of course KFMA Fall Ball. We played in Camden last weekend, flew back yesterday. Caleb鈥檚 always writing songs, so there might be some stuff in the works there.鈥

What鈥檚 your favorite thing about touring right now?
鈥淚 just love traveling and I get to do my favorite thing almost every night, just play music in front of people. I get to go places that I never would have in my entire life. We tour Europe a lot and Australia, been to Japan. Just getting to see the places that I would most likely never go to in my life.鈥
You won the Metal Hammer 2016 Metal Breakthrough Artist Award. What does that mean to you and how does that help the band moving forward?
鈥淚t was definitely an honor to win that. I wasn鈥檛 part of receiving the award, and Caleb kind of just went by himself to receive the award and go to the actual awards show. Just to be nominated for it was an honor, and to win it was kind of crazy. It was awesome.鈥
What inspires your music?
鈥淐aleb writes and records everything. He has a studio in his house and sits in his basement and kind of works on songs. Most of our songs are about just struggles in life in general. He writes from his personal view of like what鈥檚 he鈥檚 been through and what he鈥檚 seen other people go through and tries to make it very relatable to everyday life, no matter what you鈥檙e going through in your life. I think it鈥檚 very relatable songs.鈥
